In order to assure we can output your files on time and at the highest quality possible, please make sure you follow these guidelines:

Preferred File Formats

Print-ready PDF (non-editable), photoshop and illustrator files are preferred as they produce better results when in large format.

We also accept InDesign CS6 (editable) files. Word and Power-point files are unsuitable for large format printing. If you convert them to PDF format then we will attempt to output these but we can not be responsible for the results.

Fonts

Fonts must be converted to outlines / curves. Please note that this will render the type non-editable.

If fonts are not converted to outlines, please provide Macintosh or TrueType fonts. If changes need to be made to the file, please provide the fonts and a version of the file with editable type.

Do not artificially embellish fonts such as emboldening, italicising and outlining using the ‘Style’ menu in InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop as they may not print correctly.

Page Setup & Sizing

All layouts supplied must be set up proportionally  to scale or actual size. If setting up artwork for a pop-up / Twist display or a spread then we would prefer it if you could work at 1/4 size adding sufficient bleed. Please ask for further details.

Bleed is not generally necessary for individual posters or boards but it is essential for graphics which are tiled or in component form.

Resolution

All raster files must have a minimum resolution of 120dpi at finished output size. This would mean 480dpi at 1/4 size. Less dpi is acceptable for UV solvent output or imagery which is not too detailed (e.g countryside, beach scenes etc).

Images exceeding 1000dpi will fail to print. Do not use images taken from web pages, Powerpoint, Excel, Word or Clipart as resolution is likely to be low.

Imported  Graphics

We are happy to work with .JPEG or .TIFF placed images but we would prefer you use .EPS format. Fonts MUST be converted to paths or curves. To dramatically reduce EPS file sizes from Photoshop we would suggest saving them with the JPEG Encoding feature. You will be given this option when saving.

All formats must be CMYK mode and .tiff files should not be LZW compressed.

Importing .AI and .PSD into InDesign although possible can produce unpredictable results. Never copy and paste graphics from other programs especially Powerpoint, Excel, Word or Clipart. Please note that Word art is a low resolution format and almost never prints well.

Vinyl Cut Graphics

For vinyl-cut graphics and sign-writing, all logos and text must be outlined and supplied as vector illustrator format. Rasterized files are unsuitable for this process (e.g. JPEGS or TIFFs)
